Honeybees are Dying Off

Something is killing the honeybees and has been for years. I was surprised to read this article which made it seem like it was a relatively new crisis. When I was a child, honeybees were everywhere. I can count on one hand how many honeybees I have seen in the last 10 years, maybe even longer. Honeybees are vital pollinators and a vital part of our food chain. Big companies are throwing research dollars at this problem and we can only hope it is not too little, too late. For the complete artilce, click, here.
Just wanted to shout out and commend you on your blog... I was strolling around tonight, and discovered your entries - truly gave me food for thought. I had to call out to my DH and son to share several entries. Thank you so much for the efforts - they were fascinating!

For many years I had hundreds of honey bees in my oregano (2 - 8 ft rows), but in the last couple of years I have seen significantly less. Even my kids have noticed it. I always thought it was just a local thing, but it looks like it's more widespread.

We have people here that raise them and sell the honey raw. I know this, because last spring we toured a bee farm, and we even had to wear bee suits to keep from being stung.
I never knew the queen bees were so big! LOL
I wonder if they are endagered here.
