Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows
I started reading the book around noon on Saturday once my sweet husband brought it back from the store. By 2 am Sunday morning I wsa done. It was excellent! I was pleased at how everything came together in the end. My initial guesses for how things would turn out with certain characters such as Snape and Harry were pretty close to correct and the loss of so many old friends made my heart ache. Well done, J.K. Rowling. I can't wait to see where you go from here.

I just knew you would have comments on the book today. I finished it about 2am last night. I cried through the last 10 chapters but half of that was probably due to pregnancy hormones. I had been telling my kids for over a year that Snape wasn't evil, he was suffering from a very sad life. I thought the parts about the image of being a grownup vs. the reality of taking care of oneself and dealing with the real world were very good and I hope my teens notice them. They think being an adult is all about freedom and fun. Even without the added burden of being chased by deatheaters Harry, Ron and Hermione found out fast how hard it was just to get food and keep a roof over their heads. Also on this same theme was their discovery and disillusionment that adults they respected were just as flawed and human as they were and those who appear bad can have redeeming qualities. I remember discovering this at 19 and being horrified. I was sure once I was an adult I would have all the answers and have life completely under control. All in all a well written book! Definitely more aimed to older teens than the earlier ones.
