Hamster Drama
It is 6:30 am and I am sitting in a peaceful, quiet house catching up on emails and reading before I start my day. Jack comes in and says 'Mommy, there's something wrong with Nibbles. He threw up in his cage." Nibbles is Jack's hamster and is 2 years old. We know that we are anywhere from 2/3 of the way to the end of our time with this little guy based on a hamster's life expectancy, so I feared the worse.
I go to check on Nibbles and immediately realize that he hasn't thrown up, but there is a bit of an emargency. When Jack filled up his water bottle, he didn't put the spout on right (which we realized during our repairs that it won't fit right because the rubber ring is gone.) So it had fallen off and filled the tray with water. On top of that right above Nibbles 'level' that the water filled up is a salt wheel which had dissolved into the water. The crystals were the 'throw up'.
So we took Nibbles out, he drank water from the refilled water bottle (held upside down) while I cleaned the salt off. Then we happened to have another water bottle handy. So he is all fixed up and drinking, drinking, drinking. Hopefully our hamster drama turned out well and now I am defintely awake (so are Jack and Katrina!)
