Movie Reveiw: Alice Sweet Alice

Daniel and I haven't been watching as many movies as we were there for awhile, as we have been too busy with life. But last night we watched the movie Alice, Sweet Alice which is a 1976 movie. It was the first movie that Brooke Shields was in and even though her role was really a small one, I found it interesting to discover that after her success in Pretty Baby and Blue Lagoon, this movie was re-released each time with different names. It originally was released with the title "Communion", then it was released after Pretty Baby with the title "Alice, Sweet Alice" and lastly, it was released after "Blue Lagoon" as "Holy Terror".
This was really one of the first, if not the first slasher films. It pre-dated "Halloween" by two years. It was filmed in a time when gore didn't have to cover the screen either for you to be scared. We watched it expecting it to be so-so, but the movie actually turned out to be pretty good. I wouldn't recommend it if you don't like to see any actual killing or blood, but if you don't mind a little, the story is excellent. We were quite surprised with the way the story twisted and turned. Daniel and I have watched a lot of movies and we often know what's going to happen before it does, but this one took us completely by surprise and not just once! So if you like a thriller and want to see a unique story, check this one out.
And Brooke Shields was sooooo young!
