New Categories for My Blog (And Yours?)
I spent some time this morning creating a couple of new categories for my blog. When I started this blog in February, I didn't know that I would be doing product and website reviews to help bring in some extra income. So I set up a category for reviews and used it for my book reviews and my movie reviews. Well, now that I am doing all of these other reviews for income, I realized that people who maybe don't want to read my reviews might miss out on my book and movie reviews.
So I have created two new categories: Movie Reviews and Book Reviews. That way, if you want to know what I movies I have watched and what books I have read and what I think of them, it will be easy for you to locate those posts. I haven't done those kinds of reviews in awhile, I need to do more. I certainly have been reading and watching movies in my little bit of spare time:)
And I would encourage you to review your categories on your blog. A book I read a few months ago about web design says to keep your blog as simple as you can for your readers. You shouldn't have too many distractions (blinking things can be particularly annoying to some readers) and you should make your other pages easy to find. So if someone comes in and likes a recipe you have provided, make it easy for them to find more you have posted by having them all listed in a recipe category! The easier it is for readers to find interesting information, the more often they will come back!
Great tips Melissa!
