A Visit To Newfoundland...The City of Legends

|

Back in 2001 and 2002, my husband was working in Winnipeg, Manitoba. We got to spend 2 weeks with him. We didn't do a lot of planning before we went. At that time, I hadn't really gotten the hang of using the internet to scope out my travel plans. There were a couple of places we wanted to see and fortunately some of his co-workers' families took us under their wings and showed us around to places we would otherwise have missed. And my husband had an apartment so we weren't in need of a Canada Hotel Guide because we had a place to stay.

Winnipeg is the only city in Canada that I have visited, but I would like to see more of that beautiful country. My in-laws have traveled around Canada and they have really enjoyed their visits to Newfoundland. I think that would be a neat place to check out.

St. Johns is the beautiful capital city of Newfoundland. The stunning waterfront attracts locals and tourists alike.

St. John's is a place to take your camera. Whether you are taking photos of the local wildlife, beautiful ocean sunsets, or the lovely Newfoundland dogs, you will find plenty of scenes to fill your scrapbook with! As well as lovely lighthouses, St. John's is becoming well known for beautiful churches such as The Roman Catholic Basilica of St John the Baptist and The Gower Street United Church.

We can visit The Cape Spear National Historic Site, The T’Railway Provincial Park, and the East Coast Trail. In addition to seeing plenty of natural beauty you will also come across lighthouses and small communities that have been abandoned, but not forgotten.

St. John's is known as the City of Legends. It is one of the oldest cities in North America and it is filled with quaint streets, delicious fresh seafood, museums, and art galleries nestled among rolling hills that lead down to the sea.

I have always been a history buff and have always thought the perfect combination of geography was where hills or cliffs met the sea (must be a hold over from my gothic romance reading days). Hopefully, I will get to visit Newfoundland someday, and see this gorgeous province for myself instead of reading about it second hand.
