Breakfast in Bed, A Good Book to Read, Remote Close at Hand, A Hot Cup of Tea
These are a few of my favorite things!
Close your eyes and travel with me through my favorite day...well, maybe you can't close your eyes, because then you can't read the words, but you know what I mean!
It is a cold winter day...snow is falling outside and I am snuggled under the covers looking out as the snow covers the world in beauty. There is a quiet knock at the door. I hesitate, but then say 'come in', knowing that my peaceful moment is over. Imagine my surprise when my son appears carrying a tray with my breakfast sat upon it. There is toast, juice and an omelet. Behind him is my daughter carrying a lovely cup of peppermint tea.
After I get over my shock, I sit up in bed and gratefully accept my children's offering. My daughter leaves and comes back with the current book I am reading. They present me with a bell and tell me to ring it should I need anything to simply give it a shake. They leave and I enjoy my breakfast while watching the snow fall.
When I am done, I ring my handy bell and the kids come back and take away my tray. I dive into my book and read, uninterrupted for a couple of hours. Then my hubby comes in with a brand new chick flick that I haven't seen and offers to watch it with me.
We sit snuggled in bed watching the movie and he doesn't make any 'cheesy' comments. When the movie is over, I finally leave my warm, cozy nest and head out to prepare lunch, only to find that it is ready and waiting. My kitchen elves have been busy again. We eat and chat and watch the snow falling down.
After lunch, the kids and I work on 500 piece jigsaw puzzle. When we finish, we get out Monopoly and spend the rest of a fun-filled afternoon trying to drive one another into bankruptcy. For supper, the pizza man knocks on the door delivering a yummy veggie pizza!
After supper, and the quick clean up, we all settle on the sofa in the living room and watch a fun kid's film, The Incredibles. When that is done, the kids go to bed to read and go to sleep. Daniel and I watch another movie before retiring for the night.
Ahh....what a day. Did you enjoy it? I certainly did. Now, I have one small confession to make, this is a composition of favorite moments with my family. All of these events have occured at one time or another.
I have been blessed with a lifetime of awesome moments and when I read the parameters of this month's December Write-Away contest , thousands of moments flew threw my head...trips, autumn hikes with my dad when I was a child, movies and shopping with my mom, days spent snuggled in bed reading a good book, days spent playing games in front of a roaring fire...how could I ever just pick one day? So I took some of my favorite moments and put them together into one lovely day!
My wish for you is that you have at least one perfect day in your life, but thousands, no millions of perfect moments!
The simple things make for the best memories sometimes.
