Happy Birthday, Jack!
11 years ago today my firstborn, Jack, came a bit reluctantly into the world. You can read about my most special Christmas gift in my previous post as part of the Holiday Bundle Giveaway.
For his whole 11 years on this planet, my son has been a blessing to all who have known him. He is sensitive to the needs and feelings of others. He is great at playing with, watching over and entertaining younger children. Though he and his sister squabble from time to time, her best interests is often on his mind. He worries about her when we lose sight of her at the store for instance. And when I was Christmas shopping, he was pointing out things to me that he thought she would really enjoy.
From the time he was born (after the first few difficult days which were beyond his control), he has been the most easy going child I have raised. When he was a baby, he didn't sleep much, but when he was awake, he was happy to play by himself for periods of time. He loved the exersaucer and those hanging toys when he was lying on the floor. He never got into cat food or trash or pulled things off of shelves. His sister, in contrast, did all of that!
Jack is intelligent. He loves to read. He is in his fifth year of piano and enjoys playing soccer. He is also an understanding and sweet kid. We are having to hold off getting his birthday gift until late January or February due to finances, but he isn't complaining or moaning. Today, he has strep throat so instead of going to his grandma's and getting his birthday and Christmas gifts and instead of going to 4-H where we were going to share cupcakes with the other 4-Hers...he is sitting on the sofa playing Star Wars Legos and not complaining about this rotten turn of luck.
I could go on and on about my son, But I'll hush now and share some of my favorite photos.

Jack enters the new world... doesn't look real happy about it does he?

Jack at 3 months old...that smile was melting hearts at an early age.

6 months old and still smiling...excuse the drool!

Here he is at 1 year old. I loved those soft fuzzy overalls. This is one of my most favorite pictures...the smile, the eyes...adorable!

Jack at 3. Because of having a winter birthday, his pictures always have winter and Christmassy themes, except for one year when I had the kids pictures made in the summer for fun.

Now he is five. He was a little big for the horse, but his sister got to sit on it and he thought it only fair that he get to sit on it too.

Jack was 7 when this photo was taken. I love it though I couldn't tell you exactly why. It just seemed to 'look like him' more casual.

Here's Jack at age 8 and looking like a superstar soccer player!

This picture was taken shortly before Jack turned 10 and right before he slimmed down and shot up about 6 inches!

And here he is today. Smiling in spite of the pain in his throat. Happily covered up on the living room sofa and playing Star Wars Legos.
Happy Birthday, son! You make me proud!
