Jitterbug - The Perfect Phone for the Senior Citizen on Your List

| | Comments (1)

As my parents and in-laws grow older, I hear the same complaints from them. Their cell phones aren't meeting their needs. They are too complicated for them to understand. The volume doesn't go up loud enough. They can' see the buttons. The bills are even hard for them to figure out. It is difficult enough to be trying to learn a new technology, but when you add to that tiny buttons and hard to understand menus, cell phones may seem not worth the effort.

However, I feel greater peace of mind with them having a cell phone. That way, if they are on the road and break down, they will have a way to get in touch with others. Or if their phones go out during a bad storm and they need to reach someone, there is a good chance their cell phones will work. Depending on their location, cell phone may serve to save them money as well. Why pay for a land line when they can use their cell phone and know that people will always be able to get in touch with them.

Did you know there are cell phones for senior citizens? I only recently learned of the Jitterbug cell phones. My husband had mentioned them and I became curious. There are two models of Jitterbug phones that you can choose from.

Jitterbug Dial can be purchased for $147 with no contract. It has a soft ear cushion and powerful speaker that make the sound loud and clear. It has a bright screen with large text for easy viewing. There are simple 'yes' and 'no' buttons instead of confusing icons. The buttons are large, backlit, and easy to see. If you dial "0", you will reach a live Jitterbug Operator who can help you with your questions.

Jitterbug One Touch can also be purchased for $147 with no contract. It has the same great features (such as soft ear cushion and powerful speaker and easy to read numbers. This is not a phone for dialing and talking to your friends. Instead of buttons with numbers, there is a button that will link to a towing company, another button for 911 and a third button for reaching the Jitterbug operator.

Jitterbug Phones make great gifts for senior citizens. You can choose the model which will best suit your parent(s) or grandparent(s) and you will know that will know that it is something they will be able to really get good use out of.

And, if you purchase one of the senior cell phones before 12/31/07, you can get a free car charger.

If the phones themselves, aren't enough to convince you, check out the services that Jitterbug offers. They will help the owner of the new phone to get started and they will make sure that the owner gets only the services they need. Customer satisfaction is a number one priority for the Jitterbug company!

I feel sorry for anyone who buys the Jitterbug phone for their parents or grandparents. This company has horrible customer service and could care less about its customers. They have been known to leave seniors without cell service for weeks due to incompetence at the corporate headquaters in Del Mar, CA. On top of that, they overcharge for service and have been known to falsify call records with additional minutes billed to the account that were never made from frequently called numbers.
