Movie Review: The Angel Doll

| | Comments (0)

Katrina and I just finished watching the movie: The Angel Doll based on a book of the same name by Jerry Bledsoe. This story is heartbreaking and uplifting at the same time. It will take you back in time to a period when children had paper routes and camped out for fun and when the greatest gift in the world was a bicycle. This is the story of a child who grows up in poverty, but is rich in friends and rich in his persistence. His father has died and his mother has a hard time making ends meet. His little sister has polio and he does all he can to make her life as happy as he can.

His sister has a thing for angels and her favorite story is The Littlest Angel (which happens to be one of my favorite Christmas stories). He wants to get her an angel doll for Christmas and has to overcome some huge obstacles to do this. This movie will warm your heart, make you laugh, make you long for a simpler (even if more challenging) time and will fill you with love. There is the orginal book which has been made into a movie and then there is a sequel called A Gift of Angels. I am going to use a gift card I got for Christmas to add these books to our Christmas collection.
