Mudgee Region - Australia

| | Comments (0)

If you have been reading my blog for any amount of time at all, you know that I love traveling and while I have been blessed to travel to many places, there are many more I want to visit, including Australia. So I am always on the look out for places to include in our future travel plans.

Today, I came across the Mudgee Region of Australia. It is located NW of Sydney. Mudgee is a small town (population 8200) and it is one of the oldest towns to the west of the Blue Mountains. It was laid out in 1838 according to the design of Robert Hoddle, who later planned Melbourne. Mudgee is nestled along the Cudgegong River. Many old buildings have been preserved in the town center (churches, railway station, Town Hall, Colonial Inn Museum, police station, post office). Not only is there a lovely, historical town to visit, but recreation opportunities abound.

Mudgee is in the center of the wine district, so if you enjoy touring wineries, this would be a perfect place to visit. A bit off of the beaten path, beautiful and not overly crowded.

There are several National Park and Recreation areas to visit: Wollemi National Park, Munhorn Gap, Goulburn River National Park, Coolah Tops National Park, Frog Rock, Windamere Dam, The Drip, Hands on Rock. Opportunities abound to hike, observe wildlife, climb, and enjoy water recreation.

There is more than one delightful Mudgee Accommodation for you to choose from. Whether you are looing for a bed and breakfast, hotel, motel, campground, apartment, cottage, or home, you can find what you are looking for.

If you are looking for a romantic, peaceful, natural spot for your next vacation, the Mudgee Region is definitely an area to look at! I will be adding it to my list of places to visit in my future travels.
