Our Ongoing Construction Project

| | Comments (0)

Last spring, we did two wonderful things. One we paid off a piece of property we owned. It was wonderful to know that that 5 acres of land was ours...free and clear! The other thing we did was have a large deck built on the back of our home. It is 18' by 36'. We also had a lovely sidewalk poured from the deck to the driveway (great for visitors who had a hard time walking on our gravel sidewalk) and we had French doors put into our dining room which open onto the deck and make our home feel larger.

The deck addition is awesome and we have really enjoyed having it! We have done school work out there, had plays, had cook-outs, family gatherings, and pirate battles. But this is all just stage one of the plan we have in mind. Before the deck was built, we had a concrete slab poured under one corner. Our next goal is to purchase a hot tub and have it placed in the deck over that concrete slab. Whenever we go on vacation we are always on the lookout for hot tubs as we all enjoy them so much. When we went to WV last year, we loved sitting in the hottub on the deck while it snowed over top of us.

After the hot tub, we plan to enclose 1/2 of the deck and turn the hot tub area into a room. We look forward to having our very own hot tub outside to enjoy when we want and I think it would be great therapy for my aging knees. I don't know when we will start on the next phase of our construction plan, but when we do, you are all welcome to come visit!
