The Day Before the Day!

| | Comments (1)

Here we are...the final day before the big day! The kids are getting very anxious about the thought of getting up tomorrow morning and filling our home with wrapping paper!

Yesterday we were supposed to go to have Christmas with my Dad and stepmother and then enjoy a meal with my dad's family. But the weather was very bad...heavy rain and fog and the trip is 3 hours each way, part of which takes us over Interstate 81 which is a mess these days. With my car confined to local trips until we work out it's engine problems and Daniel's car confined to mostly daylight driving due to the headlight that got knocked out by a deer and we haven't had the money to have fixed yet, we had to stay home.

I will get to see my dad next weekend when he and Dianne come down to the cabin he owns in Bedford County. So we prolonged Christmas a bit. That's okay! While we were home, the kids and I played Mario Party 8 on the Wii I read a very good book (that I will be reviewing and giving away soon). Daniel and I watched the Bourne Identity and National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation. And Daniel made chex mix for us all to enjoy. A nice relaxing day.

Today will be more of the same. Right now Daniel and I are watching a movie called The Sentinnel with Michael Douglas and Kiefer Sutherland. Other movies on our agenda today are A Christmas Story, The Grinch, and The Year Without a Santa Claus. And maybe the Bourne Supremacy. I am going to cook our ham today and make our Christmas Quiche for tomorrow. I don't want to cook early in the morning, so I will fix it today and heat it up tomorrow.

I look ahead at our calendar and it is a beautiful sight! The only thing between now and January 1st is a birthday sleepover for Katrina on Friday night and Jack will be working at the Daily Bread with the youth group on Friday morning. And of course we will see Dad and Dianne on Saturday.

Days here without running...without things to do...ahhh...more books in my future!
