Themed Gift Basket Ideas

| | Comments (4)

There is a fun contest over at OhAmanda.com. She is giving away a wonderful themed gift basket (and just let me say, chocolate is involved). In order to grab an opportunity to win this lovely gift basket, she is asking for us to share with her a themed gift basket idea. It can be one we have given, one we have received or the one we would give if we were a millionaire. She and some of her dear friend's will be judging the entries and determining a lucky winner!

I love the gift basket idea. Mainly, because I think it is cool to get multiple gifts from one person. And since I love to get gifts like that, I also very much enjoy giving gifts like that! Two of my more memorable 'gift basket' ideas are below.

1. When I was 22 and working at my first 'real job' after college, I was invited to a baby shower for a co-worker. I had babies on the brain at the time and wanted to get her something relally neat! So I went to the store and bought a diaper bag, then I proceeded to fill every pocket with items I thought she could use: spoons, bibs, bottles, toys, some diapers, blankets, clothes, powder and lotion. I had so much fun filling up that bag and she loved unpacking it!

2. My best friend turned 40 about three years ago. She was going through some tough times with her spouse at the time and I wanted to get her something fun and unusual, so I put together a basket of goodies and a letter that explained the use of the goodies (in case some were lost on her). The main theme was ways to help her relax, count to 10 and take care of herself while she and her hubby worked out their problems. I included bath bubbles for relaxing, some chocolate, a candle, money for a pay phone call should she be in trouble, seeds that symbolized the growth of our own friendship, and gloves to remind her of the fact that best friends would help hide the body if necessary. She loved her gifts...so far we haven't had to use the gloves;)

3. If I had unlimited funds, I would love to give someone a gift basket that included tickets to travel to exotic places by plane, by boat, by train...And it would include hotel reservations, sight seeing tickets and reservations at wonderful restaurants. I love to travel and there is so much to see in the world. I think it would be cool to set up a travel package and give it to a friend or family member.

As usual, I have probably given more information than necessary, but I was having fun and couldn't stop myself! But enough meandering! Go visit Amanda and share your gift basket story with her (but should you win, be sure to share with me - hee hee).

it reminds of what my MIL did for me when I was pregnant with Samantha she bought me a duffle bag and filled it with tons of stuff I would need for the hospital stay when I was in labor!

Congrats on winning over at Oh Amanda's place! I love all your themed-baskets ideas. And, it was the gloves that got me, too. Great thinking!
