2008 Ultimate Blog Party

So on with a little bit about me...whatever could I tell you that would entice you to come back? Hmmm...you will have my undying gratitude if you come visit me regularly. I am a firm believer in linky love, if you link to me and let me know, I promise to link to you.
My blog is a family friendly blog. Here you will find recipes, posts about our life, contests, book reviews, movie reviews, news about animals, news about astronomy, news about archaeology, musings, tips, product reviews, and whatever thing happens to interest me at any given time.
I live in the Virigina Piedmont in Bedford County. I homeschool my two youngest children (11 and 8) and I have two grown stepsons who are making their way in the world (and doing a pretty good job). My hubby is a computer consultant/mentor/programmer. We have two hamsters, four cats, and two rabbits that live here with us on ten acres of wooded land. We mostly like being off the beaten path (except for when the gas bill comes).
I am a cool weather person, with summer being my least favorite season of the year. I love to read (mostly historical fiction, horror, romance, gothic romance, classics, mystery, and history). I will sometimes read nonfiction, but I have a hard time staying tuned in unless it is something that really interests me.
I enjoy watching movies. Lots and lots of movies. My movie interest mirror my reading interests. I also enjoy comedy and children's movies.
I love to travel and have been blessed to visit a couple dozen states, Canada, and France. I hope to go to Australia, England/Scotland/Ireland, Egypt, and Greece some day. As well as visit the rest of the states here in the U.S.
I enjoy crocheting and needlepoint and counted cross stitch. I love spending time with my children and playing board and video and card games with them.
I love blogging (both reading and writing). I am always amazed when people find what I have to say interesting. I have been writing since I was in elementary school and it has been an integral part of everything I have ever done, whether writing for publication, or writing a company newsletter... I always seem to find a way to fit my passion into my life.

I'm a cool weather person too. I always say when it's cold you can always get another blanket or build another fire, but when it's hot, you can pretty much just get down to your birthday suit and then you're still hot! (and you know...clothing-less...*LOL*)

We like the same book and have similar hobbies. I'm an avid knitter when I have free hands, which isn't frequently with a nearly one year old around.
