Movie Review: The Painted Veil
Last night I watched a movie I had borrowed from Netflix. The title was The Painted Veil. This is a period story It is mostly set in 1920s China It is a historical love story The cholera epidemic plays a large role in this movie.
But the real story is between a man and a woman A marriage that comes 1/2 out of love and 1/2 out of a desire to escape family. Mistakes are made and a husband who has been wronged seeks to punish the wife that has hurt him. Trial and time work to heal the wounds and true love blossoms The end isn't the happy one we might wish for, but it is uplifiting and it offers us hope that redemption is possible.
I give it 2 thumbs up.
I remember when this came out; I wondered if it was any good. Thanks for the recommendation!
