Poking My Head Out to Say Hello
This past week has been incredibly busy without much time to turn around, much less think of interesting things to blog about. After the Science Fair on Thursday, I spent Friday morning trying to catch up with emails, blog reading, laundry and some phone calls I needed to make. A gentleman came by to work on our heat pump (turns out we had a refrigerant leak.) My next door neighbor came by so her 15 yr old daughter could show off her learner's permit, then my neighbor followed me to the local garage so I could drop off the Suburban to be inspected. We returned to the house, Katrina and I ate quickly, then headed to Rustburg for nature class.
We stopped at the dumpster and at the post office(mailing 4-H packages to troops) on our way.
In Nature Class, we made miniature scarecrows (using wooden clothespins, fabric, glue, ties and straw type stuff). We made light houses using batteries, lightbulbs, wires, empty plastic bottles... and then made miniature green houses out of egg cartons and plastic bags. After the class was over, Katrina and I stayed at the Extension Office Building and played cards (Kings in a corner) for about an hour, waiting to meet a friend of Jack's to bring him to our house to visit. We picked up Eric, then headed to get Kayley (Katrina's friend).
On the way, I stopped to get gas. That took longer than it should because my card kept getting rejected. I had paid online Tuesday evening, but the payment hadn't been released by my bank, so Amoco was saying my card didn't have any money on it. That wasn't fun.
We got Kaley, then headed home. The kids played all evening. We had pizza and ice cream for dinner. I did various chores around the house while the kids had fun. They had to go to bed at 11 because Jack and Katrina had Gold Cup piano competition this morning (we had to leave at 8:45).
The boys were up at 6, I was up at 7 and the girls were up by 7:30. We had breakfast, got Jack and Katrina spiffed up to go and away we went. We had a 40 minute drive there. Were there for about 20 minutes, then came home. The kids played and played and played. Jack and Eric mostly played Xbox 360 (Halo 3). Katrina and Kaley played outside in the mud once it stopped raining and before that they played store. While they played, i watched Apt Pupil and Madame Bovary (borrowed from the library).
We took Eric and Kaley home around 4:30, then came back to clean up and have dinner and get ready for our subdivision meeting which was scheduled to be at our house at 7 pm. I am secretary for subdivision. The treasurer and I were here and two other members came. The rest (including the President) were AWOL! We had a brief meeting, discussed business (me calling to have more gravel laid on the road) and then chitchatted for about an hour or so.
Then the neighbors left. I finished watching Madame Bovary while the kids played a bit more. Now we are heading to bed to try and get a jump on the time change.
Tomorrow, maybe I'll tell you about the new phones we got and the DirecTV mixup!
your life is sounding very busy indeed (good I think - I like busy)
the science class sounds interesting
March 9, 2008 2:14 PMIs that really YOUR idea garden? If that's your backyard, I'm super jealous. It looks like it would be inhabited by all sorts of interesting fairy tale creatures.
