Science Fair Fun
Yesterday our 4-H group had a Science Fair. The kids have been working on their projects over the last month.
I thought you might enjoy seeing them.
Katrina made a homemade volcano. We had so much fun building the volcano and it was the hit yesterday...all the kids wanted to see her explode it again and again! The judges gave her an average score of 90.5 out of 100.

Jack had a bit more challenging project. He found an experiment where you could grow stalagmites and stalactites by running a string between two jars of epsom salt saturated water. The instructions weren't very specific (exact amounts of water and salt were not given) and even though we tried about 8 different things (different string, different types of water and different amounts of salt), it never dripped from the string as it was supposed to. However, about two weeks ago, we started making one by hand (dripping the water into a spot on the board.) In two weeks, of five drops of water a day, it only grew about 1/4 inch so you won't be able to see it, but we thought it was neat.
Anyway, here's some photos of Jack's experiment. He was given an average score of 86.

My mom and stepfather came to the Science Fair to see the work the kids had been doing. It was great to have them along! I love the first picture because everyone is so happy, but I threw in the second as Jim isn't looking up in the first.

They done a tremendous job on their projects. Congrats on the good grades. We haven't done a science fair project yet, but it's coming soon though.
