Week of August 17th in Review
Well, this past week was another busy one, but busy at home getting odds and ends done.
Things like mowing the lawn. I actually really enjoyed that. There are benefits to only mowing once a month. My grass is greener than most of my neighbors. Also, when I mow, I can really tell that the yard looks mowed and it looks sooooo nice! That's because some of the weeds were two and three feet tall, then in other places were only a few inches tall. That's because our yard is a hodgepodge of really good grass and some really happy weeds!
I also managed to finish making signs for the youth group bake sale we are having on September 5th from 7-12 at Lancer Mart at the corner of 24 and 122. Come by and get some yummy goods and say hi!
I am up to my final year in my video to DVD project. I am glad to see the light at the end of that tunnel. It has been fun watching the videos, but it has also been very time consuming.
We had our first 4-H class this week and the kids and I are all very excited about doing some gardening over the next year. I am sorry that we are going to miss the next two classes due to being in Australia, but I am very excited about what else we will be doing.
In other news with my youth group fundraising, we have been working on getting people to sign up their MVP cards over the last three Sundays, so we could register our Youth Group with Food Lions Share program. It is awesome. We had to have at least 25 people and we got about 35! Yippee! Not bad for a little church! We have the potential to bring in 350.00 every three months just with these cards.
I got to watch some movies this week too. Daniel had watched several while he was in Illinois and I am now trying to catch up. I watched The Knowing which I really, really liked, though I wished for a different ending. I watched PUSH which I also liked a lot. I watched The first part of Aristocrats (courtesy of Netflix) which I really enjoyed. I watched Valkyrie which was better than I thought it would be (I am not a big Tom Cruise fan). It is a shame that what they tried to do didn't work out... the war would have ended sooner and who knows how many lives would have been saved? I watched The Reader with Kate Winslett. Another interesting movie, if a bit slow and parts didn't make a lot of sense to me and if you don't want nudity, stay clear of this movie. And we watched Taken (the new one with Liam Neeson). Another excellent movie. Liam is always a joy to watch and I enjoyed watching the gal who played Shannon on LOST in another role (though it took me awhile to recognize her with her brown hair). I kept thinking...I know this girl, I know this girl...
Well, that's this past week wrapped up with a bow. I probably forgot some things, but those are the highlights! We are now packed up and ready to head to Chicago. Daniel will be speaking at an Agile conference and the kids and I will be kicking back and sightseeing.
